Australia star Caitlin Foord was given the John Terry treatment ahead of her country's World Cup opener against Ireland on Thursday when Ruesha Littlejohn refused to shake her hand before kick-off.
Footage of the incident sent the rumour mill into overdrive, with fans on social media scrambling to discover the reason behind the startling snub.
Witnesses claimed after the match, which Australia won 1-0, that Foord and Littlejohn had to be pulled apart after confronting each other before the teams walked off the pitch.
Earlier this month, Foord uploaded a snap of herself with Arsenal team-mate Katie McCabe, who just got out of a seven-year relationship with Littlejohn, in bikinis together at a gig in Ibiza, and fans reckon that might be the source of the controversy.

McCabe, who awkwardly lined up alongside her ex in Ireland's midfield on Thursday, confirmed their breakup just before the tournament.
Foord and McCabe are good friends having played together at Arsenal for the past three years, and recently holidayed together in Ibiza with a large group of mates.

Foord recently became single too after splitting from Gunners team-mate and Switzerland international Lia Walti. However, she has not been romantically linked to McCabe and isn't thought to have played any part in the relationship breakdown between McCabe and Littlejohn.
"Clearly there is still some tension surrounding from Littlejohn's side of things which looks like it spilled over a bit on Thursday night," a source close to the Matildas told The Daily Mail.

"Caitlin and Katie are great friends. They play together for Arsenal. They spend a lot of time together. But there's nothing more to it than that."
Footage of the handshake snub garnered thousands of views on social media within hours, with fans likening the drama to a similar instances that occurred in the Premier League, including Wayne Bridges' infamous blanking of John Terry in 2010 and Luis Suarez's controversial snubbing of Patrice Evra in 2012.

"Why did Littlejohn refuse Foord's hand? Is there some John Terry/Wayne Bridge situation going on that we don't know about?" one fan tweeted.
Another said: "Savage from Littlejohn. Wonder what that was about," while a third said: "They reproduced the Suarez Evra moment haha."
